RT’s Charlotte Dubenskij examines claims about Netanyahu’s prior knowledge ahead of the country’s first vote since the Hamas attack

As Israel marks three years since the October 7 Hamas-led assault in 2023, the security failures surrounding the attack have become a major election issue, RT Middle East correspondent Charlotte Dubenskij has reported.

The incursion by the militant group left around 1,200 people dead in Israel while 251 others were taken hostage. Israel’s response was to launch a war in Gaza that has spread to additional fighting across the region. Around 73,000 Palestinians have since been reported killed in the enclave, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, meanwhile, is facing new allegations about what he knew before the attack. Recent reports claim he personally received warnings from Egypt and the UAE about a possible major Hamas operation – claims the prime minister denies.

The dispute comes just weeks before Israel’s October 27 election – the country’s first national vote since the assault.
