A Liberian-flagged vessel has been hit and its Turkish captain injured, investigators have said

Ukraine has attacked a Liberian-flagged oil tanker in Russian territorial waters, injuring the vessel’s captain, Russia’s Investigative Committee has said.

The ship’s captain, a Turkish national, has been hospitalized, the agency reported on Thursday. Investigators have examined the scene, documented the damage, and ordered a forensic explosives analysis.

Ukrainian drones have also targeted a number of coastal cities in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, including Sochi and Dagomys, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said.

The greatest damage from the overnight attack was recorded in the town of Tuapse, where two people were killed, including a 14-year-old girl. Seven others were injured, officials said.

Drone debris fell in residential areas and on the territory of a seaport, and a state of emergency has been declared in the Tuapse district.

In the port city of Novorossiisk, drone debris struck a civilian vessel, causing a fire and injuring one person, Kondratyev said. The authorities suggested the vessel may have been the tanker cited by the Russian Investigative Committee.
