Duty bound

Published 9 Oct, 2026 10:56

Eduard Sharafiev had a difficult childhood, but he managed to overcome all challenges. He pursued his education, started a family, and became a deputy in the State Council of Tatarstan. Today, he commands the ‘Saint George’ brigade.

He left his position as a deputy in 2022 to assist at the front. Initially, he went on a humanitarian mission, but soon began taking part in combat operations and leading the brigade. Accustomed to hardship, Sharafiev has shared all the burdens of military life with his soldiers.

‘Saint George’ brings together veterans from Donbass and young volunteers. Together, they fought in battles on the Bakhmut front, near Avdeevka, and Bogdanovka. In a film by Anastasia Mikhailovskaya, their stories, along with footage from personal archives, reveal life within the brigade.
