No faith in politics? Hussein Solomon, Senior Professor, Department of Political Science, University of the Free State

Just a few years ago, a threat of religious, specifically Islamic, fundamentalism was deemed by many countries as one of their top security threats, providing a pretext for ballooning defense budgets and fueling the US-led war on terror. But following the Covid-19 pandemic and the clash between Russia and the West over Ukraine, one hardly hears about it anymore. Is it no longer an issue?
