Russian President Vladimir Putin is participating in 8th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit in Moscow.

The summit brings together leaders and senior officials from major gas-producing countries to discuss global gas markets, energy security, reliable supplies and closer cooperation among exporters. The leaders will also discuss a draft Moscow Declaration.

On the sidelines of the summit, Putin is holding bilateral meetings with the leaders of Iran, Qatar, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea and Libya to discuss bilateral relations and areas of mutual interest.

The GECF’s member countries hold around 70% of the world’s proven natural gas reserves. This is the first GECF summit held in Moscow since 2013, and the gathering also marks 25 years of cooperation within the forum.
