‘Active shooter’ reported at mosque in San Diego

An active shooter has been reported at the Islamic Center of San Diego, as police race to the scene and officials warn the public to stay away from the area.

“Emergency personnel are on scene and actively working to protect the community and secure the area,” Mayor Todd Gloria has said in a post on X. According to San Diego police, the scene is “active but contained.” 

Aerial footage by NBC 7 shows a person lying in a pool of blood following the shooting. The authorities, however, have not yet released details on injuries or a suspect as officers respond to the scene.

Two suspects are dead, according to local outlet NBC 7 law enforcement sources. No other shooters are at large. The police have only commented that the “threat at the Islamic center has been neutralized.”
